New Opportunities

We have received so much exciting news this week!

First, the Delaware County Board of Elections has agreed to allow our students to volunteer at the local polling site for the upcoming presidential elections!  And the best part...they are as excited to have our students volunteer as we are for the opportunity.  If you live in the city of Delaware, look for some of our transition students greeting community members and giving directions on the new procedures and voting process at your precinct's polling station.  Second, we were approved for a Pets in the Classroom grant for the upcoming school year.  Having a pet in the classroom, a sweet fuzzy guinea pig, will be a great opportunity for our students to learn compassion and the responsibility of caring for another being - whether that be our little guy in the classroom, a pet of their own, or even child in the future.

So many wonderful opportunities are falling into place for the students in our classroom, we can hardly wait for summer to be over!

Service Learning Opportunities

The Hayes Transition Classroom is looking for volunteer opportunities in the Delaware area for the 2012 - 2013 school year.  Service Learning is a key component in our classroom as it gives our students the opportunity to learn real world skills for adult living and career exploration.  In addition, it is a great way for our students to give back to the community in a positive and meaningful way.  Please contact us at hayestransitions@gmail.com if you or your business would be interested in helping us establish volunteer sites for the upcoming school year.
